The IMP0WER GRID: How We Deliver Governed Microsoft Transformation

Ungoverned Power Platform is raw current — useful, dangerous, unmetered. You don't ban electricity. You build a grid: wiring standards, circuit breakers, meters, and a utility that keeps it running. That's our entire methodology in one metaphor, and this page publishes the whole thing — no gated PDF, no "contact us to learn our approach." Judge the thinking before you hire the firm.

Why a method matters at all

Most Microsoft platform trouble isn't a technology failure. The apps work; the flows run; Copilot answers. What fails is everything around them: nobody owns the app when its builder leaves, the flow runs on a personal credential, the agent reads a permission mess nobody audited, and the tenth urgent project lands on a platform that was never architected to hold one. Firms that sell projects fix the symptom in front of them and hand the pattern back to you intact.

A real method does two things a pile of projects can't. It sequences the work so that foundations precede buildouts — you don't wire a building before the panel is in. And it defines "done" in a way that survives the consultant leaving. The GRID does the first. The Ø Standard does the second.

The GRID lifecycle

Four stages, one loop — from first look to steady state. Every IMP0WER engagement, from a two-week assessment to a managed-services relationship, lives at a named stage of this lifecycle, and every proposal tells you which one.

Gauge — measure the estate

You can't govern what you can't see. Gauge produces the ground truth: what exists, who owns it, what it touches, and what's at risk.

Concrete artifacts: tenant and environment inventories with named owners · DLP and connector risk matrices · orphaned and mission-critical solution identification · maturity scoring against the GRID stages · a prioritized risk register and remediation roadmap.

All of our fixed-price assessments live at this stage — it's the "Gauge" product line, and it's deliberately separated from implementation so the diagnosis stays clean.

Route — architect the safe path

Findings become a plan you could hand to any vendor, including not-us. Route decides the target state and the order of operations before anything gets built.

Install — build to code

Solutions, migrations, and agents — built against the Ø Standard, the way an electrician builds to code. "Build to code" is the point: the work is inspectable, and it passes or it doesn't.

Distribute — scale and operate

A platform, not a pile of projects. Distribute turns delivery into steady state: your people enabled, the estate monitored, the standard enforced as new things get built.

Our published bar for "production-ready." Everything we ship — and everything we assess — is scored against it. Zero exceptions, hence the name.

  • Ø orphans — a named owner and a successor path.
  • Ø personal credentials — service identities for anything critical.
  • Ø mystery access — permissions auditable and least-privilege.
  • Ø prod-only — a Dev/Test/Prod path and rollback.
  • Ø undocumented handoffs — docs a stranger could operate from.
  • Ø silent failures — monitoring and exception handling.
  • Ø dead ends — a support path after go-live.

Seven checks, none of them exotic — which is rather the point. Every one of them is something an inherited app is usually missing, and every one is cheap at build time and expensive at 2 a.m. The Ø Standard is the spine of our ALM and production engineering work, and the gap check inside every assessment.

For AI: the Grounded Agent Ladder

AI needs its own rungs, because the risk isn't uniform — an agent that drafts an email and an agent that acts in your ERP are different animals. The governing rule: autonomy should rise only as grounding rises. Each rung earns the next.

assist-level AI: Copilot, drafting, summarization. Governance: usage policy and licensing.

agents answering from your content, with your permissions. The double meaning is deliberate: grounded knowledge, and electrical grounding — the safety connection. Governance: permission hygiene, content curation, sensitivity labels.

How this shows up in an engagement

Nothing above is shelf-ware. In practice:

  • Proposals name the stage. You'll see Gauge, Route, Install, or Distribute on the scope — so you know where you are in the lifecycle and what comes next.
  • Assessments are Gauge, productized. Fixed price, fixed duration, real artifacts. Start there.
  • Every build gets the Ø check. Before go-live, the work is scored against all seven items, and you see the scorecard.
  • Every AI conversation starts on the Ladder. We place you on a rung before we recommend anything with autonomy.
  • The method is the deliverable, too. Roadmaps, inventories, and standards are written so they're useful even if you never hire us again. That's deliberate — diagnosis you can trust comes from a diagnostician with nothing to sell you. The sample readout shows what that looks like on paper.
